Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is a valuable benefit that makes it possible for many people to get the timely treatment they need. There's a lot to understand about dental insurance and how to make it work for you, but our dental care team is here to assist you. If you have questions about what's covered under your plan or how your benefits apply to planned treatment, don't hesitate to let us know. We're here to assist you in any way we can to help you get the quality dental care you need.
What insurance plans do you accept?
While Exceptional Dentistry is an out-of-network provider, we work with all major dental insurance companies and are happy to file claims on your behalf. Our team will also answer questions about your dental insurance if you need help navigating your benefits.
What is the difference between an Out-of-Network Provider and an In-Network Provider?
In-network – A dentist signs a contract with certain insurance companies. In return, those insurance companies control what the dentist can charge for dental services. Because the in-network dentist is bound by the insurance company's fees, you receive dental work at a discount and the dentist has to write of the difference. Awesome, right? Here's the problem... The lower fees make it harder for the dentist to cover the cost of materials, instruments, staff, lab fees, etc. The in-network dentist may try to compensate for this cost by cramming in more patients, spending less time with patients, decreasing the quality of materials used for treatment, or cutting staff members (sadly, some offices are now replacing receptionists with massive call centers and A.I. attendants). All of this can compromise the quality of care you receive.
Out-of-network – An out-of-network dentist will still file claims with your insurance company, but they have the freedom to set their own prices. This allows them to offer treatments and services that aren't dictated by the insurance company. It also allows them to schedule more time with you at your visits. In turn, the quality care you receive may be higher with an out-of-network provider. Interestingly, your insurance company may pay an out-of-network dentist nearly the same amount as an in-network dentist. Sometimes your co-pays for certain procedures are a little higher, and sometimes your insurance still covers 100%. It is certainly worth looking into your plan to see if you have out-of-network benefits!
