Frequently Asked Questions

For best results, we recommend aligners are taken out while eating or drinking anything besides water. This will prevent the teeth from being bathed in food debris, sugar, or plaque which can result in decay, staining, or gum irritation and recession.

Fortunately, whitening has not been shown to be harmful to your teeth. Whitening, also known as bleaching, does not weaken tooth enamel or make teeth more prone to cavities or bone loss. In some cases, there is temporary sensitivity in the teeth as the teeth are whitening but this is not a lingering effect or a sign that anything is going badly.

Not when they are done correctly. Clear aligners are designed to fit comfortably over the teeth and not rub your gums, tongue, or cheek. There will be some initial pressure on the teeth as each new tray is introduced which goes away in a day or two. This mild pressure is necessary to guide the teeth to their optimal position.

A lot of our cases can be completed in about 6 months to a year! This is far below the typical 2 years needed to complete a full orthodontic case with traditional braces.

Excellent dental health has so many benefits and can change your outlook on life. You’ll feel better because you know your teeth are healthy, and when you feel better, your confidence increases.

While we know that there’s no better investment than your oral health, Dr. Matthews and our dental care team also understand that quality dental care can be costly.

From routine cleanings to full mouth rehabilitations, we always want to make sure you are comfortable with the financial aspect of care and the investment you are making. While using high-quality materials and advanced techniques and technology, we keep our fees fair.

We accept all insurances but are in-network with Medicaid, Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, United Concordia, and Aetna. Our business team will work closely with your insurance company to maximize benefits and follow up on claims. As we plan your treatment, we’ll review with you the best financial options for you to achieve optimum oral health.

You can ask them about our various payment options, including CareCredit, a 12-month interest-free financing program. Whatever it takes to help you get the dental care you need for a healthy smile, we’ll work with you to make it possible.
